From Tension to Flow

from $60.00

This two-part series explores the embodied experience of trauma and the return to flow that comes through healing. The first piece captures the knots, tension, and pressure to perform “okayness.” The second piece shows the freedom and vitality that emerge when our life force energy begins to flow again.

Inspired by the work of Peter Levine, PhD, developer of Somatic Experiencing, these works honor the nervous system’s innate capacity to self-regulate, transform, and restore balance.

Artist Note

Healing isn’t about erasing what hurt us, it’s about allowing the energy that got stuck to move again. The first painting holds the truth of that inner struggle: the tightness, the performance of being fine, the effort to hold everything together, all while feeling disconnected from our vitality. The second is what happens when the body is given the space to feel, soften, and flow again.

Peter Levine writes of healing as, “Our emotions begin to lift us up rather than bring us down… We become more in tune with the passionate and ecstatic dimensions of life.” That’s what this work is about: reclaiming our natural rhythm, our vitality, and our sense of safety.

May these pieces remind you that your body carries an ancient wisdom. Even in the tightest knots, the river of life is still moving, waiting for its moment to flow freely again.
